Behind five goals apiece from Hannah Smith and Caitlin Schafer, the San Benito girls water polo team held off host Live Oak 17-13 Wednesday in a non-conference matchup in Morgan Hill.

Sarina Schekenburger added three goals for the Balers, who improve to 4-3 overall on the season.

Rachel Estep pocketed a pair of scores for San Benito as well, while Jeanett Rodriguez and Lindsay De La Torre each added one goal each.

Keeper Brittany Olduin made seven saves in net for San Benito, which will visit Santa Catalina on Monday at 3:30 p.m.

The winning trend didn’t continue on the boys end, however. The Balers were outmatched early against host Live Oak, which easily won 18-3 on Wednesday in Morgan Hill.

Nick Angulo scored all three goals for the Balers, who fall to 2-3 overall.

San Benito will travel to Santa Catalina on Monday as well where it will take on Palma in a league match. Start time is 3:30 p.m.
