Jurisdiction unclear for weed issue

A concerned resident had emailed the Pinnacle about an unsightly and potentially dangerous collection of weeds near a residential area along the bypass. The resident noted how there were weeds behind the wall of the bypass at the Blackforest Road area.

Hollister public works official Marcelo Orta responded that the weeds have not been eliminated yet, as jurisdiction issues are somewhat unclear in that area by the roadway. It also falls right near an area that is by the border of what is considered private and public, Orta said. Three different entities are working to better define jurisdiction to address such matters – the parks and streets divisions of the city, and the county as well, Orta said.
