A downed tree on Seventh Street is suspended by phone lines after falling Monday morning.

Although there was some rain over the weekend, it hasn’t been enough to get the Hollister area back on track and closer to its averages for this time of year.
Two Hollister measuring stations showed 0.63 inches of rain and 0.73 inches of rain since Thursday when the latest round of rain storms swept through the area.
Still, that puts the total for the winter season at 2.28 inches of precipitation at the Hollister Water Department site, according to data compiled by the University of California, Davis.
That is below the precipitation level for the same time last year – when it was at slightly more than 4 inches.
The rain storms caused some minor issues for public works crews. There were two “pretty large” trees that went down in the 1100 block of Wilma Drive and the 600 block of Seventh Street, said Julian Guytan with the Hollister Public Works Department. Guytan said a home on Seventh Street was fortunate to escape damage.
Another city public works official could not be reached before press time regarding potential flooding issues.
