Relay For Life volunteers placed purple ribbons on trees along
San Benito Street on Wednesday and Thursday to kick off this
season’s Relay For Life. May kicks off the fundraisers nationally,
and Hollister holds its event the first weekend in August. The
events raise money for and bring awareness to the American Cancer
Society. The event is to signify one day in the life of a cancer
patient or survivor.

Cancer never sleeps,

said Geri Johnson, a Relay organizer.
