HOLLISTER

The Salvation Army warehouse in Hollister on Buena Vista Road was burglarized the night of Dec. 13, Maj. Samuel S. Rodriguez told the Free Lance recently.

Less than two weeks before Christmas, the thieves stole six bicycles that had been “collected” that day, and possibly some food and toys as well, Rodriguez said.

The sheriff’s office responded to investigate, as the culprits had broken the lock on the door to get in. That building includes a warehouse, offices and a chapel, he said. The Salvation Army thrift store in Hollister closed two years ago.

“We just want to raise awareness in the community that they’re trying to hurt the community through us,” said Rodriguez.
