Eight members of the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit spent Sunday searching for a 55-year-old male hiker who went missing in Skeggs Point in San Mateo County.

Lt. Roy Iler said that the man went missing on Thursday and the San Mateo Sheriff’s Office called surrounding agencies to help in the search efforts.

“It was basically a call for help and we sent up our guys,” he said.

San Mateo County officials requested just search and rescue personnel who would go on foot.

“(We sent) seven personnel and our director and helped out Sunday,” Iler said. “We have more, but thats all we sent up.”

As of right now, Iler said he didn’t think the missing hiker had been found, while no media reports have confirmed anything but that he is missing.
