Alex Engelhardt, a Life Scout with Troop 436, in Hollister, has
completed his Eagle Scout project.
For his project, Engelhardt set out to collect at least 1,200
pounds of pet food and other supplies to donate to Pet Friends, a
nonprofit that fosters and adopts out animals. Engelhardt handed
out fliers in Hollister neighborhoods, collected items from
curbsides and hosted drop-offs for those who wanted to donated
until he had collected enough items.

The collection includes pet food, toys, cat litter, blankets, towels, leashes, collars and more. With the help of other Scouts and parent volunteers, he loaded up his truck and delivered the items to Pet Friends Feb. 26.
