Ethan Jude Lang-Echeverria

Ethan Jude Lang-Echeverria was born Jan. 31, 2007, at Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy to parents Mike Lang and Diana Echeverria of Gilroy. He weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces.

Kendall Rhian Driscoll

Kendall Rhian Driscoll was born Jan. 24, 2007, at Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy to parents Melissa and Brian Driscoll of Gilroy. She weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces.

Tyler Donald Marcus

Tyler Donald Marcus was born Sept. 25,2006, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital to parents Richard and Alexis Marcus of Hollister. He weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces.

Jason Christopher Ceballos

Jason Christopher Ceballos was born Jan. 23, 2007, at Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy to parents Annette and John Christopher Ceballos of Gilroy. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces.

HONORS

Nathan Stieg

Seaman Nathan B. Stieg, of Gilroy, signed a Navy contract on March 7, 2006 after being tested and accepted into the Nuclear Program or Advanced Electronics.He departed Nov. 19 and graduated Ja.n. 19, 2007. 

They do not give any grades or positions, but he received a 5.8, 5.9, 5.9 on his three tests. Perfect was is 6.0 each.

He was selected to further his education into the ET (Electronic Technician) schooling at Great Lakes. This training will last 4-6 months. 

Stieg is currently stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base, Glenview, IL. and is a 2006 graduate of Valley Christian High School.

Joshua Langton

Army Pvt. Joshua M. Langton has returned to the U.S. after being deployed to an overseas forward-operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mission objectives focus on force protection, peacekeeping, stabilization, security and counter-insurgency operations as the Iraqi transitional governing bodies assume full sovereign powers to govern the peoples of Iraq.

Langton, a combat engineer, is assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas. The private has served in the military for one year.

He is the son of Michael Langton of Linden Road, Liberty, Mo., and Lisa Keeling of Fountain Ave., Morgan Hill.

Calvin Harris

Army Pvt. Calvin H. Harris has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky.

During the nine-week training period, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values.

He is the son of Charles Harris of School Road, San Juan Bautista, and nephew of Don Harris of Gilroy. Harris is a 2004 graduate of Gilroy High School.

Timothy Koeppl

Timothy Koeppl, a firm partner with Cyclonix Inc., has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Major Koeppl, USMC was presented the Medal by General Frank Panter of the U.S. Marine Corps in a special ceremony in January. Among Koeppl’s achievements is a program that delivered 1,500 pairs of sandals and flip-flops to needy children and families in Africa.

The Medal was officially presented for meritorious service while serving as Logistics Officer, Camp Lemonier, Marine Corps Forces Central Command, Djibouti, Africa, from February 2005 to August 2005. During that period Koeppl developed and executed a humanitarian assistance program that delivered pairs of sandals to the people of Djibouti.In addition, Koeppl used personal funds to secure food and water to local families.

Koeppl said the program to deliver sandals to the people of Djibouti was conceived when his oldest daughter, who was in kindergarten at the time, saw photos of local children.

This launched a program among the Koeppl’s friends and associates in the Monterey area to collect pairs of sandals. Koeppl’s daughter and her friends made posters, and through both personal donations and donations from local retailers, 1,500 pairs of shoes were collected. DHL donated shipping and delivered the shoes to Koeppl in Africa.

Mark Rollyson

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Mark A. Rollyson has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

He is the son of David Rollyson of Morgan Hill, Calif., and Rhonda Mitchell of Haggerty Road, Hillsboro, Ohio. Rollyson is a 2005 graduate of Beavercreek High School, Ohio.

ENGAGEMENTS

Bachman-Atkinson

Fern and Kathie Bachman of Gilroy have announced the engagement of their daughter, Leslie Anne, to Brian Andrew Atkinson.

Leslie is a 1998 graduate of Gilroy High School. She is also a graduate of Gavilan College. She currently lives in McKinleyville, where she owns a jewelry company.

Brian is the son of Kevin and Jeanine Atkinson of Hollister. He is a 2000 graduate of Live Oak High School. He attended Gavilan College and is currently pursuing an education in Nursing at Humboldt State University in Arcata.

The couple will wed Dec. 29, 2007 at the Highlands Inn in Carmel.
