Mackenzie Lynn Garrido was born Dec. 6 at Saint Louis Regional Hospital in Gilroy to parents Paticia and Steve Garrido of Gilroy. She weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces.

Athenamarie Ava Lopez

Athenamarie Ava Lopez was born Nov. 21 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister to parents Jessica Miller and Christopher Lopez of Hollister. She weighed 9 pounds, 15 ounces.

ENGAGEMENTS

Kelly Jo Blanchette and Joseph Andrew Laguna met online in October 2005 and began dating a month later. They became engaged in May 2006.

Kelly Jo, daughter of John and Mary Blanchette of Morgan Hill, is employed as a Pharmacy Technician in Morgan Hill. She is a graduate of Live Oak High School.

Joseph, son of Jose’ and Sandra Laguna of Gilroy, is employed at Adobe Systems in San Jose. He is a graduate of Fremont High School in Sunnyvale and earned his Bachelors degree from San Jose State University and his MBA from University of Phoenix.

The couple enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, listening to music and traveling. The wedding is planned for May 19, 2007 in Gilroy.

WEDDINGS

Jose A. Rodriguez of Gilroy and Hilda Henry of Seattle, Wash., announce their wedding on Dec. 22, 2006. They were married in Reno, Nevada, and plan to live in Seattle.

Juan Diaz De Paz

Army Pvt. Juan C. Diaz De Paz has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Diaz De Paz is the son of Ana Paz of Monterey Road, San Jose, and nephew of Carlos Diaz of San Pedro Ave., Morgan Hill.

     The private is a 2004 graduate of Live Oak High School, Morgan Hill.
