Luis Anaya

Air Force Airman Luis E. Anaya graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Luis and Cecilia Anaya of Gilroy and a 2007 graduate of Gilroy High School.

Rodney Garcia

Spc. Rodney Garcia, of Gilroy, returned to the United States to Fort Bragg, N.C., on Aug. 30 after completing a 12-month deployment to Afghanistan. He served in Lashkar, Kabul, the Hellmand Province, Kandahar and ended his deployment in the Arghandab River Valley. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Operation Enduring Freedom. Garcia is the only soldier in his firing squad to complete the 12-month deployment.

Garcia is the son of Rogelio Garcia and Paula Orosco; brother of Jacqueline Cherry, Catherine Aguilar (Steven), Lori Salgado, Rogelio Garcia Jr. (Laura) and sweetheart of Edlin Carranza. He is the uncle of Shantel, Richard, Johnny, Justin, Rogelio Jr., Julian, Richelle, Ryan, Shyriah and Angel.
