Chris Shackleton qualified for the the Central Coast Section golf finals held May 11 and 12 at Rancho Canada West.

He shot an 81 at the windy Tri-County Athletic League Finals held Monday at Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley. Shackleton, a sophomore, was able to recover from two double bogies in a row on par fives.

Salinas, who was leading the league standings by half a point over Palma, dropped down to third place after Gilroy beat Salinas by one point for second place and Palma won the match.

San Benito’s Chase Graves was disqualified on the 14th hole after running out balls. He started with 12.

“That is real uncharacteristic of him,” said Baler coach Mark Tinder. “He was trying to swing too hard, and with a sore back that doesn’t work too well.”
