Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a safe and happy
celebration.
Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a safe and happy celebration.

With the weather as wet as its been, I doubt if too many people were out celebrating too much. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas last week as well.

First off I would like to send a huge thank you to Pinnacles employee

Carl Brennar for being so kind as to come down to Tully Hall a few weeks ago to be Santa Claus for the Bitterwater Tully Christmas Party. He did a fantastic job and he was very much appreciated. Thank you Carl. Will you come back again next year?

Now on to some Christmas celebrations. Jeff and Jean Schmidt headed north to Truckee for Christmas at the home of their daughter’s family, Jeff, Shari and Melissa Popnoe. Joining them there included their son Steve from the Bay area. Jeff and Jean returned home to Bitterwater on Friday via train from Truckee to the Bay area then on home. Joining them on the trip home was their granddaughter Melissa. Melissa’s mom, Shari, rejoined everyone down here last Saturday then she and Melissa headed back home to Truckee on Tuesday.

Laurence and Donna Hansen headed over to Lemoore on Christmas Day to

spend the day with their children and their families.

Jo Ann and Vern Scattini hosted a Christmas Eve celebration at the

Carter Ranch in San Lucas for their family. Those who attended included: Laurence and Donna Hansen, Dorothy Harlan, The Nessen Schmidt Family, The Hec Hurley Family, Sami Jo (Sans) Johnsen Family, Lynette and Heidi Hurley and The Sans Family. After a delicious dinner we were visited by the big man in red himself and all the children received a special gift from him. After Santa left, the adults took part in their annual gift exchange which always gets a little interesting by the end of the evening!

On Sunday evening, Vern and Jo Ann hosted another post holiday dinner at

their home in Bitterwater for their friends Johnny Joe and Darlene Maggini

and George and Sandy Rose.

If any San Benito 4-Her is looking for something to do this weekend,

the Lonoak Badgers 4-H Club is hosting a New Year’s Dance on Saturday night at Tully Hall. The dance will be held from 6-9 p.m. and price of admission is only one book suitable for a preschool age student, or, a canned food item (or both!). This should be a fun evening so plan on stopping by if you’re in the mood to boogie! For more information, you can contact me.

Don’t forget the next Cowboy Church Service is Jan. 8 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. It begins at 6:30 and generally ends about 8 p.m. If you’d like to go but King City is too far for you, there is also Cowboy Church the night before in Salinas at the Salinas Rodeo Grounds. They are always held the first Tuesday of the month in Salinas, the first Wednesday of the month in King City. The guest speaker next week is a good one, Mike Hammock of Nacadoches, Tex. Hope to see ya there!

Well, my football season is officially over. For the rest of the

season my favorite teams are whoever plays the Raiders. If they actually

make it to the Super Bowl, it’ll be the first one I think I’ll have to intentionally miss. Oh well, only six more months till Bronco training camp starts back again.

Hope your all enjoying this wonderful wet weather, until next week, if

you have any news you’d like to share, give me a call or e-mail me at
