Local students head to high school rodeo state finals
I hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful weather we’ve been
having, and it’s just in time for the Salinas Valley Fair that
begins next week. We’ve been enjoying a great week of weather down
here in South County all week and looks like more is headed our
way. Enjoy, everyone!
Many California High School Rodeo Districts are finishing up the
year this month. District 4 and district 7 each held their finals
last weekend. Congratulations to all those who participated all
year and to those who have qualified for the State Finals. Some of
those qualifying for state finals include: Blane and Blaire Strohn,
Megan and Tommy Ford, Kristy Melton, Wyatt Nacarrato, Cash
Robinson, Cheyenne Rey, Brody Sans and Wacey Barrington. The high
school kids will be going to Bishop for their state finals in
mid-June while the junior high kids will be going to Plymouth in a
few weeks. Good luck to everyone!

The Salinas Valley Fair begins next week in King City. The week will begin with a cattle stampede and parade down Broadway, followed by a steak barbecue at the city park, this Saturday. The stampede begins at 11 a.m. Sounds like a fun way to kick off the fair. The actual fair begins May 12. Many kids will be showing 4-H and FFA animals on Thursday and Friday, followed by the livestock auction on Saturday. A country rodeo will be taking place on Friday with a short go on Friday night, a barrel race will take place on Saturday morning with a short go taking place Saturday night in conjunction with the bull riding and the country music band “Glorianna” will be playing on Friday night. It should be another great Salinas Valley Fair!

Don’t forget your moms this weekend as Mother’s Day is Sunday.
