South County kids recovering from sports-related injuries
Whew, what a week we had last week. It was a long, eventful week
but we’re back home now and Brody is on the mend. Thanks so much to
everyone who called and checked on us. Your thoughtfulness is very
much appreciated.
First and foremost, birthday wishes go out to Buddy Sans who
celebrated his 16th birthday last week, on Jan. 18. Poor Bud. He
was celebrating a big birthday that just kind of got overlooked due
to Brody’s accident. Now that we’re home and things are settling
down a bit, we’ll make it up to him. My parents, Sierra and I did
celebrate with Buddy last Sunday evening at the 19th Hole. Happy
16th birthday, Bud. We love you!

Several brandings took place last week during this run of warm, spring like weather. Some of those branding were John and Tina Bourdet, the Topo Ranch, John Wooster and Bill and Robin Rist. Wooster’s and the Mee Ranch will be a few that will be branding again this week. Folks are trying to get all their calves branded during this stretch of dry weather as everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that February and March are really wet months.

Bitterwater Tully School held its monthly hot lunch on Tuesday at the school. Many community members enjoyed a lunch of homemade chile colorado, rice and beans.

Seems like the Bitterwater Tully alumni are having a run of bad luck lately with lots of injuries to the kids. Rachel Diaz broke her ankle during volleyball season. Brody was stepped on by a bull last week and had a collapsed lung. Then Taylor Hurley broke her thumb over the weekend by getting her thumb caught in a dally while team roping. She has surgery on today to reset her thumb. They say bad things happen in threes so let’s hope Taylor’s was the last in this group. It can only get better from here! Best wishes on a speedy recovery, Taylor Jo!

Brendon Clark will be heading out to Indianapolis this weekend to compete in another Built Ford Tough PBR event. You can watch Brendon compete every Saturday and Sunday evening on Versus. New this year, Brendon stars in a feature each week doing something different in each city they visit. The first week he and his buddy McKennon Wimberely spent some time playing Rugby with a national championship high school rugby team in Sacramento. Last week they learned how to surf down in Southern California. It’s hard telling what they’ll do this week in Indy, but maybe they will spend a little time with Peyton Manning and the Colts, or maybe take a spin around the race track at the Indy 500. Due to a serious injury last week to McKennon, Brendon’s new partner in the features will be his friend Luke Snyder. Best wishes to McKennon for a quick recovery from his injuries.
