Time flies by
Whew! Time just seems to be flying by these days. I’ve been so
busy I haven’t even had time to write my column for a few weeks. I
figured I better try to get one in this week as shipping season is
now upon us and I know I’ll just keep getting busier and
busier!
Not only is it shipping season but as the school year draws to a
close, we will be busy doing all the senior activities that fall
upon us with Sierra graduating in a few weeks. I can’t believe
she’s graduating and heading off to college in the fall. Like I
said, time sure does fly by.

The Salinas Valley Fair took place a few weeks ago. Many South County kids participated in the fair with 4-H and FFA animals. Emily Brewen did very well with all of her beef projects, while Taylor and Twyster Hurley, Kiana Almaguar and Ian Paz all showed their swine. Megan and Meryl Jones and Wyatt Call all did very well with their rabbit projects as well.

We headed up to Plymouth a few weeks ago for the Junior High School Rodeo State Finals where Brody competed in the breakaway roping, team roping and bull riding and Wacey Barrington competed in the goat tying, team roping and chute dogging. It was there that Brody qualified for the second year in a row to represent California at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo in the bull riding again. We’ll be heading off to Gallup, NM again this summer.

The weather hasn’t changed much in South County the past few weeks as Mother Nature can’t seem to make up her mind on her weather patterns. We even had rain last weekend again and they may even be calling for more wet weather this weekend. I don’t know about you but I’m darn sure ready for some warm weather.

Entries for the San Benito Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo arrived in the mail the other day. Looks like Brody and I will be missing another rodeo this year since we’ll be in Gallup. Todd and Sierra will be home to enter Bolado Park before Todd meets us in Gallup later in the week.

Summertime weddings are starting up this weekend as Casey Sabin will be getting married on Saturday to Krista McNitch Kodl. They will be getting married down in Paso Robles Saturday evening. J.W. Brewen hosted Casey’s bachelor party last Saturday at his home. The guys shot skeet, played cards and barbecued all afternoon before the rain kicked in that night.

Congratulations to Sierra who was awarded eight scholarships last week at the scholarship banquet at the school. Once again, she made us very proud. Blane Strohn received six scholarships at his banquet a few weeks earlier. Congratulations, kids!

Congratulations also go out to Doug and Debbie Forzani on the birth of their new daughter, Lily. Lily was born on May 23 and she weighed 7 lbs., 14. oz. Both mom and baby are now home and doing well.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
