Hoping for wet weather
Happy New Year everyone! I hope all of you had a safe and fun New Year’s celebration. Hopefully a lot of wet weather is in store for us early in 2007.
Since this column was written before New Year’s Eve, I’ll report on last week’s Christmas news, then, catch up on New Years celebrations next week.
The Bitterwater 4-H Club had their December meeting the week before Christmas. The club had a pizza party and a cookie exchange. It was nice for the Mom’s as it was a night off of cooking during the busy holiday season, plus, everyone took home three dozen different kinds of cookies as well.
Jeff and Jean Schmidt, along with son Steve, took the train to Truckee to spend Christmas with family Shari, Steve and Melissa. I’m sure they had a very white Christmas up there!
We hosted Christmas Eve at our home again this year. We had 47 people in attendance, along with Santa Claus after dinner. Thank goodness for potlucks! Those enjoying the evening with us included: The Scattinis, the Hurleys, the Schmidts, the Johnsens, the Stoeberls, the Mallorys, the Brewens and the Barringtons. The only one who wasn’t thrilled with Santa Claus this year was little Wade Garza. I think he’ll like him better next year.
The Rianda Family hosted a get together last Thursday night at their home in Greenfield. Bruce and Lisa Rianda and their family were in town for the holidays from Montana. They haven’t been here in several years so it was a fun gathering to be able to visit with them again. Many South County residents attended the gathering.
Many South County Schools will be back in session next week, so enjoy your kids at home for one more week, and, if you have any holiday news you’d like to share, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at
