Where did all the rain go? Last week was so beautiful with the
rain and now we have none (again)! Hopefully we’ll get a good shot
again soon. The grass is starting to sprout up a bit here in South
County but we do need more to keep it coming. It’s so pretty to see
the hills getting green again. It’s pretty easy to see all the
green though as the hills were so bare to begin with.

George and Sandy Rose came down for a visit last weekend. George is getting along well after his hip surgery. Todd and the boys took him for a ride around the ranch in the Bronco for a while. After a noisy drive with the boys, George knows now why Todd hasn’t been able to get a buck when hunting with the boys! Speaking of Sandy, she was one of those “phone calls” that I requested not to happen last Monday night during the Bronco vs. Raider game. Fortunately, after the Niners loss on Sunday I was able to “return” the phone call!

The Lonoak Badger 4-H Club held its monthly meeting last week at Bitterwater Tully School. Pat Johns, 4-H Advisor for San Benito County, visited the club and gave a presentation to the kids on food safety and later did an orientation for new leaders. On Friday night, the club headed into King City for skate night.

The Silver Kings and Queens held its monthly meeting last week in King City. Some of those attending from South County included: George and Donna Palmer, Laurence and Donna Hansen and Jim and Betty Barrington.

I headed off to the big city last weekend for a girls’ weekend out. Kasey Hurley, Sami Jo Johnsen, Karen Benedix and I went to a Women of Faith conference in San Jose. There were more than 10,000 women at the conference who were there to listen to seven speakers from around the country. Two of the speakers were Dana Curry and Heather Mercer, the two American women who were held as prisoners over in Afghanistan last year. They talked about their experience and their dramatic rescue. It was really interesting. I found out again what a small world we live in when, with all those women there, who do I run into but Sally Askew! She was only a few rows away from us. She really enjoyed the conference as well. We country gals felt like trapped cats in that big city though! We all really enjoyed ourselves even though we all came home to messy houses after leaving the kids with our husbands all weekend (not complaining though)!

Denise Donahue will be hosting hot lunch on Friday at Bitterwater Tully

School so if you’re in the area, be sure to stop by.

Can you believe Thanksgiving is just next week? Even worse, Christmas

is less then 30 days away! Hope you have a great weekend and if you have any
