Spring weather’s on schedule
It was another cool, windy week in Bitterwater last week, but it
is that time of year. Another round of rain would sure be nice, but
it’s getting more unlikely as time goes by. I did hear rumors of a
wet April, though, sure hope it comes quick if that’s true!

King City High School held its annual invitational track meet last. Sixteen schools participated in the event, which ran very efficiently all day. They actually ended ahead of schedule, which was nice!
Some of those participating in the meet included: Mattie Barrington, Sierra Jo Sans, Brooke Tavernetti, Natalie Madson, Erica and Colby Williams, Grady Roth, Isaac Garcia and Larry Reeves. Congratulations to all who participated and placed in their events. It was another very successful event for the high school.
The track team traveled to Greenfield earlier in the week for another meet and was successful there as well. Baseball and softball are in full swing at the high school right now also. Be sure to check out your favorite team and help support the kids and their sports programs.
Birthday wishes go out to Sierra Jo Sans, who celebrated her 15th birthday last Saturday. After a full day at the meet, she celebrated by having a birthday dinner with family and friends before heading off to the movies with more friends.
Birthday wishes also go out to June Rianda, who is subtracting her years so she’s actually getting younger, and to Jim Smith, who celebrated his 88th birthday last week as well.
While Sierra and her friends went to one movie, Todd and I, along with Andy and Tamra Barrington, went to see the movie “Leatherheads” with George Clooney. It was a cute movie, not as good as expected and one I could have waited to rent, but it was still entertaining – especially if you like George Clooney!
I hope you remembered to get your entries in for the Salinas Valley Fair last week. Entries for all non-livestock events were due last Friday. The fair’s Hostess Contest will take place this Saturday at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. For more information on the event, contact the fairgrounds or contest coordinator, Marianne Madson. The fair kick-off dance will be the following Saturday, April 19th. Tickets for the dinner/dance can be purchased at the fairgrounds. The fair will be here before we know it!
Tax day is right around the corner, next week to be exact! Don’t wait until the last minute to get yours done.
Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at
