Locals compete in Laton junior rodeo
It sure has been a beautiful week in South County. It’s sure
beginning to feel like spring is right around the corner. Speaking
of spring, I hope everyone remembered to move their clocks forward
last Saturday evening. This time change is always a tough one to
get used to. My Monday morning bus run proved that as everyone was
late that morning!

Kenny Rose and Karco Productions hosted the Tommy Cash Concert last Saturday evening at Bolado Park. There was a good crowd on hand and, according to Jeff and Shari Popnoe, the show was fantastic. Hopefully, Kenny will produce more events like that in the future.
John Wooster branded the last set of his calves last Friday at the Crown W Ranch while Pat and Kris Regan branded their calves last Saturday.
The Salinas Valley Fair is right around the corner so with that in mind, the annual Hostess contest was held last Saturday at the fairgrounds. Three girls competed for the title and the winner was Kimberly Naranjo, from Prunedale. Kim attends Anzar High School in San Juan Bautista. Also competing from Anzar High School was Allison Agostini who was the winner of the horsemanship category. Averi Regan hand painted a leather overnight bag as one of the awards. If you haven’t seen any of Averi’s work yet, be sure to check some out on her Facebook page. She does a great job.
Several South County kids headed over to Laton again last weekend for another junior rodeo. Congratulations to Cheyenne Rey, Taylor Hurley and Brody Sans for winning the All-Around in their divisions, and to Dawson and Lila Bell for a job well done in their events as well.
My condolences go out to the family and friends of Madelyn Bourdet who passed away last week. She will be greatly missed by many.
The Salinas Valley Fair will be hosting another three-day barrel race this weekend at the fairgrounds. Friday night the event starts at 7 p.m., noon on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
