The San Benito High boys soccer team didn’t exactly enjoy its time in the Monterey Bay League’s Gabilan Division last year. The Haybalers tied with Salinas for last place in the MBL’s upper division a year after they won the lower Pacific Division. San Benito enters its second year in the Gabilan expecting to show it belongs with the league’s elite teams.
Softball: Brookshire earns award
Suzy Brookshire, an incoming San Benito High senior, was recently named to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Softball Underclassmen First Team as a catcher. Brookshire, who made a verbal commitment to Sacramento State in her sophomore year, has produced two of the most prolific offensive seasons in school history.

From an early age, Jessica Bueno had a knack for shooting the ball. Introduced to the game at 6 or 7, Bueno always received advice from her dad, Manuel, on the fundamentals of proper shooting technique.
