Basketball, soccer seasons continue

One of the smallest players on the Anzar High girls soccer team often makes a big impact.

A year ago, the San Benito High boys basketball team had a season to forget. The Haybalers finished 6-18 overall and 3-9 in the Monterey Bay League’s Gabilan Division. Only Seaside had a worse mark in the Gabilan. A rash of injuries and other issues exacerbated San Benito’s problems, making for a long season.

San Benito High junior Brad Sparrer finished fourth in the Junior Tour Northern California Golf Player of the Year standings to earn a berth in the annual Frys.com Open Pro-Junior event, which is held a week before the 2015-16 season-opening PGA Tour event at Silverado’s North Course in Napa.
