Workers clean the mess Thursday morning at Sally and South streets.

Stacks of cans fell and blew out an outside wall at the San Benito Foods tomato cannery early Thursday morning.
The Hollister Fire Department received the call shortly before 3 a.m. after security guards heard the noise and discovered the destruction to a 20- to 30-foot-wide section of a warehouse wall. That wall was blown out all the way to the top of the building at the corner of Sally and South streets, while nobody was injured in the incident, said Fire Chief Mike O’Connor.
On Thursday morning after 9 a.m., cannery workers were picking up the mess spilled out onto the sidewalk. Employees declined to comment and referred questions to the plant manager.
O’Connor did not know a cause but said it might have been a pallet giving out. He said it looked like a couple thousand cans of tomato products, with some of them breaking.
