HOLLISTER

Supervisor Anthony Botelho will have three plates full for the next year.

For 2009, he has been elected as chairman of both the county board and the Council of San Benito County Governments, while he also kept his position for another year as president with the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments.

Botelho received the nomination as COG chairman Thursday following his election from supervisors Jan. 6 as their meeting overseer. AMBAG officials reelected him in December for their chairman role as well.

Supervisors hold about two regular meetings per month along with occasional special meetings. For both COG and AMBAG, there is one regular meeting per month, but some special meetings for COG as well, Botelho said.

“Fortunately, they’re all interrelated,” Botelho said. “When I made the commitment to be a county supervisor, that commitment came with the understanding it’s a full-time job.”

He called it a “great opportunity.”

“I’m just looking forward to 2009,” he said. “We know it’s going to be challenging.”
