Pam Tebow

South Valley residents are invited to a special event Saturday, April 12 at Gilroy’s Foothills Church (8335 Church St.). Guests will enjoy a free breakfast followed by an inspirational address by guest speaker Pam Tebow.
Pam’s son, Tim, is a former NFL quarterback well-known for his piety and his footfall prowess. After winning the Heisman Trophy while playing at the University of Florida as a sophomore in 2007, he went on to play two seasons with the Denver Broncos and one with the New York Jets before retiring with the New England Patriots in 2013. He is currently a college football analyst with ESPN.
The Tebows lived for several years as missionaries in the Philippines, and Bob continues a ministry there. The Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association supports 55 native evangelists; they and the Americans who accompany Bob on frequent mission trips are responsible for more than a million people each year “professing their faith in Jesus Christ.”
The Tebows also founded an orphanage in the Philippines in 1992. They have educated and cared for scores of orphans.
Pam is a popular speaker at women’s groups and nonprofit fundraisers across the country. Her message in Gilroy will focus on family values, building lives based on the Bible and the sanctity of life.
While in the Philippians and pregnant with Tim, Pam experienced difficulties with her pregnancy and was encouraged to abort her child. As so many know, she chose to take the pregnancy to full term. During that time, many missionaries came to the Tebow home and prayed for Pam. One of them, Mike Paddy, now a local minister, will participate in the program and get to meet Pam again after nearly 25 years.
Breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the program will commence at 9:30 a.m. Although there is no cost to attend, donations will be gratefully accepted. Due to limited seating, participants are requested to register online at www.life-advocates.com/events.html.
This opportunity is sponsored by Life Advocates, a local nonprofit agency dedicated to enabling women to make conscientious decision when dealing with an unexpected or crisis pregnancy by providing ongoing, nonjudgmental support and helpful resources.
Life Advocates has no intention of trying to “live women’s lives.” Rather, its goal is to provide help in making important decisions by offering information, medical resources and counseling. Nonjudgmental support is offered; and counselors help with questions and concerns.
The Gilroy agency operates a donated 33-foot recreational vehicle. Contributions raised by this fundraiser will allow the vehicle to be equipped with an ultrasound machine so pregnant women can be served efficiently. Plans are for the mobile unit to be parked around town to make it easy to visit.
