Dear Editor,

The editorial of Silvia Burley is on the mark. Let the group bring forth a proposal before voting to dismiss a project that you have not even seen a plan for. Thumbs Up to Silvia Burley.
Your editorial stating that the city council needs to take a stand on the proposed casino is way off the mark. The project as proposed is to be in the county. I am sure that the inter-governmental committee, with members of the board, and the city council, will discuss the issue and any city concerns would be heard. The council should not take a stand at this time. I would urge all council members to wait and see what this is all about before taking a stand. Thumbs Down to the Free Lance editorial.
What you have is a group of Native Americans just beginning the process of planning something outside the jurisdiction of the city council; nobody should “weigh in” until they have the opportunity to see what they are weighing in on. Wait and see what is put forward. Do not succumb to the concerted efforts of the few, before seeing what the group has planned, and they are just beginning the planning of this project. They deserve the rights that others have had in bringing forth business projects to the county.
