The Hollister Police Department announced that timed parking enforcement returned this week after a break for the holidays.
Additionally, timed parking limits increased from two to three hours.
According to a police statement:
As a reminder the free holiday parking program for the downtown parking district streets was set to end Wednesday, Jan. 15. Parking in the downtown parking lots will continue to be free. The free holiday parking program has been in effect since Nov. 15 and has been a holiday tradition the last two years. Business merchants and downtown employees are encouraged to park in the Briggs Building parking structure (which is free parking year around) or the many City of Hollister off-street parking lots that are interspersed downtown to allow for convenience of customer parking on the street. Additionally, the Hollister City Council voted last year to increase the time limits from two hours to three hours. Enforcement of the new three hour limits starts this week.
