Two Hollister High athletes have been nominated for Monterey Bay Preps Athlete of the Month for January.
Octavio Lucatero, a 135-pound junior wrestler, placed first in the Arcata Invitational and placed second at Alhambra and MidCal Tournament. Lucatero edged Gilroy’s Gilbert Gutierrez in a dual meet at Hollister Jan. 15.
Jennifer Vandenberg, a sophomore on the Baler soccer team, had 16 goals and five assists as Hollister went 5-1-1 in Tri-County Athletic League play during January.
Voting at www.mbaypreps.com continues until Saturday at midnight. The winner will be awarded a $100 certificate from Sports Zone in Salinas.
