Authorities have released the identify of the man found killed in a Hollister home Feb. 5, but remain mostly quiet on details in the case that a police captain called “complicated.”
Officers responded to a report of a deceased male at a home on Morey Circle at 1 a.m. Feb. 5. The 55-year-old victim, Chris Sargent of Hollister, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police found 63-year-old John Neuer of San Jose at the home and arrested him, alleging homicide.
As of Thursday, police Capt. David Westrick said that for now, he was limited to releasing the victim’s identity. He said he was waiting for items from the chief and results from the state Department of Justice before discussing further details such as how Sargent died, what type of weapon may have been used, or how the two men were associated.
The captain did say police believe the homicide occurred at the Morey Circle home.
“We believe everything that occurred – occurred at the residence,” he said.
Westrick in declining to talk further details called the case “complicated” and “complex.”
