Smoke hovers over a farm field along Highway 25.

A 40-acre wildfire that sparked Tuesday afternoon in a canyon just south of the U.S. 101 and Highway 25 interchange sent smoke billowing throughout the Garlic Capital.
The fire started at 4 p.m. and smoke was visible across Gilroy and along U.S. 101.
As of 5:25 p.m., the fire had not been contained, according to CalFire. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
