Following their first-place finish at the Jim Root Classic on Saturday, the San Benito Haybalers had one last dual meet prior to this weekend’s Mid-Cal tournament in Gilroy.

But the visiting Everett Alvarez Eagles provided little punch on Tuesday night at Hollister’s Mattson Gym, as the Balers easily defeated the Salinas school 66-6.

With just two wrestlers on its varsity squad, the Eagles surrendered 60 points in forfeits alone.

San Benito now begins preparations for the 30th annual Mid-Cal Classic, scheduled to kick-off Friday at Gilroy High. The massive tournament, which is said to act as a precursor to the state championships, will continue through Saturday.
