Hawks to a fifth-place overall finish.

Aaron Hsia-Coron recorded a 17:00 at the Mission Trail Athletic League Center Meet on Thursday at Salinas’ Toro Park, and led the Hawks to a fifth-place overall finish.
The Hawks compiled 143 total points, positioning them behind fourth-place King City (105), third-place York (85), runner-up Stevenson (68) and Center Meet champion Carmel (40).
The Padres were anchored by Galen Lanier, whose 16:51 placed him third overall. Samuel Hales (16:30) of King City took the top spot among the varsity boys on the three-mile course, while York’s James Palaniuk (16:46) was second.
As for the Hawks, Izzy Parra was second on the team, 22nd overall, after clocking an 18:19, while Jacob Wilkenson was 30th in 18:44.
Anzar head coach Doug MacKinnon could not be reached at press time.
Rounding out Anzar was Armando Zepeda, who finished 43rd in 19:51; Josiah Garza, who recorded a 19:52 for 44th place; Miquel Vega, who placed 48th with a 20:00; and Eduardo Zepeda, whose 21:50 placed him in 59th.
On the girls side, freshman Valerie Quezada led the Hawks with a 23:08, good enough for 11th place overall.
Sabrina Gonzalez was 31st in 25:18, while Kelly Gomez was 46th in 27:52.
Carmel (47), Stevenson (66) and King City (67) garnered the top three spots.
The Hawks will race next at a meet at York on Tuesday. Race time is 4 p.m.
