Gavilan Rams

The accolades continue to roll in for the Gavilan football team.
Six Rams players were named to the All-California Community College All-Region Team Monday. Three players were also honorable mentions on the All-State Team.
Sophomore defensive lineman William Lee, who was named the Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year in November, topped the list for the All-Region defensive team and was joined by teammate Dillon Babb at linebacker.
Lee had 76 tackles, seven sacks and five forced fumbles and led the conference with four fumble recoveries. Lee was also an honorable mention on the All-State Team. Babb racked up 72 tackles through nine games this season in addition to four sacks and two interceptions for the Rams.
Sophomore standout Nate Ellis was named the All-Region quarterback and was also an All-State honorable mention. Ellis threw for 2,040 yards this season and had 19 touchdowns in nine games — including three rushing touchdowns in Gavilan’s 59-58 thriller over Cabrillo to end the season.
All-purpose back Jakari Johnson was also named to the All-Region team and, like Eliis and Lee, received an honorable mention on the All-State team. Johnson was vital in the Rams success this season, racking up 1,827 all-purpose yards and 20 total touchdowns.
Wide receiver Trevin Kelley, 432 yards and six touchdowns this season, and offensive lineman Kevin Taylor were also named to the All-Region Team for the Rams.
Gavilan finished the season with a 4-6 overall record.
