After a 2-0 loss to rival Gilroy on Wednesday, the girls soccer team took out its frustration against Notre Dame, beating the Spirits 5-0.
The winning margin was the Balers largest of the season.
The victory gives San Benito a 2-1-1 record in the Tri-County Athletic League and a 5-4-3 record overall.
The week started with a close and frustrating loss to Gilroy.
The Balers allowed a goal less than 30 seconds into the game, but putt he pressure of the Gilroy defense throughout the 80 minutes.
Gilroy finally added to their lead in the game’s closing moments.
In between the two Mustang goals San Benito controlled the ball. The Balers missed at leas four golden opportunities in the game – including hitting the goal post twice, but never scored.
The Balers travel to Alisal on Tuesday. The game is expected to start at 5:15 p.m.
SBHS girls basketball
The Balers earned a 3-3 split over the first half of the league season on Thursday, beating Alvarez 58-26. The victory was the Balers most lopsided victory of the league season.
The Balers, now 10-8 overall, host North Salinas at 7 p.m. Thursday.
AHS boys basketball
After winning the first game of the league season, the Hawks have lost four in a row and now have a 2-16 overall record.
The Hawks opened the week with a 62-54 loss to Trinity Christian. Nick Salgado led the Hawks in scoring with 24 points. John Moreno also added 10 points.
On Thursday, the Hawks struggled again, losing to Oakwood 43-42.
The Hawks host Pacific Collegiate at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
AHS girls basketball
The Hawks won their fourth league game in five chances on Thursday to improve to 6-12 overall and 4-1 in league play.
Led by 20 points from Delaney McKinney, the Hawks defeated Oakwood 38-13. Lynette Weckerle added eight points in the win, and freshman Leslie Martinez added six points.
The Hawks host Pacific Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
AHS girls soccer
A first-half goal by Sydnee Masuen wasn’t enough for the Hawks Thursday, as Pacific Collegiate rallied for two goals to beat Anzar 2-1.
Pacific’s Alyssa Gomes tied the score a minute after Masuen’s goal in the 20th minute. And Rowan Armstrong gave Pacific the lead for good with a goal with one minute left.
The Hawks, now 8-5 overall and 2-1 in league play, travel to York at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
AHS boys soccer
Despite taking a 2-1 lead in the closing minutes of the second half, the Hawks couldn’t hold off York and finished with a 2-2 tie.
York scored only minutes after the go-ahead Anzar goal off a free kick.
The tie gives the Hawks a 0-3-1 record in league play.
The Hawks host Marina at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
