Golfers must thing they are Superman or the Hulk because when I ask my students to keep their feet shoulder-width apart, their feet are about four-feet wide.
During a lesson Wednesday, I suggested my student to line up his feet with the outside of his pants’ pockets. This is a very easy way to set feet the proper distance apart because it is difficult to see how you lined your feet with your shoulders.
Simply looking down and checking your feet with your pockets is quick, simple and accurate. If your feet are set too wide, it is very difficult to make a good swing turn. If your feet are too close, it is difficult to keep your balance throughout your swing, especially for fast swingers.
Give this tip a try and if you still need help with your stance swing by Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. We would love to help you.
Believe it or not
There are 18 holes in a round of golf because during a discussion among the members at St. Andrews in 1858, someone pointed out that it takes exactly 18 shots to polish off a fifth of scotch.
By limiting himself to one shot of scotch per hole, he figured a round of golf was finished when he ran out of scotch.
Golf quotes
“There are only two ways to increase your distance. You can learn to the clubhead faster or learn to deliver it to the ball more accurately,” Jack Nicklaus said.
“The best advice I can give for playing out of water is — don’t,” Tony Lema said.
Ladies match play
The Ladies Match Play began last week at Ridgemark Golf and Country Club.
Remember ladies, know the difference on the rules of golf for match play and stroke play. It can make the difference between winning and losing.
