The San Benito Health Foundation is celebrating National Health Center Week through Saturday, celebrating the 50th anniversary of migrant health with Farm Worker Health Day.

The San Benito Health Foundation is celebrating National Health Center Week Aug. 5-11, celebrating the 50th anniversary of migrant health with Farm Worker Health Day on Aug. 9.
The week also included a breastfeeding walk, in conjunction with the San Benito County Public Health department’s perinatal services, a health fair and an open house that were all open to the general public on Aug. 8. The San Benito County supervisors presented representatives from both agencies with a proclamation declaring the month of August breastfeeding awareness month on July 24. They also gave the Health Foundation a proclamation declaring the week of Aug. 5-11 as National Health Center Week and Aug. 9 Farm Worker Day.
“Community Health Centers ensure access to high-quality primary and preventative health care and other medical services, integrated outreach, patient education, translation and other enabling services, for 18 million people in the United States, including the 55,561 individuals each year in the State of California, county of San Benito and City of Hollister,” read the proclamation.
According to a press release, federally-funded health centers such as the San Benito Health foundation serve one in four of all U.S. migrant and seasonal farmworkers.
Providers include RoseMarie Sandoval, as the primary care clinical director and family nurse practioner; Patricia Clarke, pediatrician; Godofredo Torres, family medicine and Edwin Acosta, dental director.
The medical and dental clinic is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the WIC program is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m, and has appointments on alternating Saturdays. For the medical or dental clinic, call 637-5306. For WIC, call 637-6871.
