In October, the Council of San Benito County Governments, along with two other regional agencies, sponsored a Rideshare Week to encourage residents to find alternatives to work beside driving solo. Those who carpooled, rode a bike or the bus, or walked to work had a chance to enter a drawing for prices.

Winners were announced Thursday. In San Benito County, Kenneth Weatherly and Terrie Ferguson won $100 gift card toward an electronic purchase. Two winners were selected from each participating jurisdiction, including Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties. But a handful of winners also qualified for regional gifts.
A one-night stay with golf for two guests at Pebble Beach went to Henry Houston. Raquelle Miller won a $300 gift card toward an electronics purchase. Frank Rivera got a $200 gift card toward an electronics purchase.
Monterey Bay Aquarium passes went to Conor Delaney, Christine Pressas and George Matsumoto.
“Congratulations to all winners,” the agencies said in a press statement. “We also thank all participants in Rideshare Month 2012 for using sustainable transportation modes in October. Thank you for helping keep our air cleaner.”
