Union Road construction continues
Demolition and new paving activities have been completed on the Union Road Rehabilitation project, which is still on track to be completed by the end of June, according to San Benito County officials.
Over the next several weeks, crews will focus on the project’s rumble strip installation, roadway striping, construction of an asphalt concrete dike and minor drainage improvements, the county said in a press release. Specifically, rumple strip installation and striping are schedule for the week of May 18.
Traffic control will be in place, and motorists can expect delays along Union Road from 7am-5pm.
Work on the roughly $2.4 million project began March 23 with site preparation and utility work. The project encompasses about two miles of Union Road from the intersection of Highway 156 to just west of the intersection of Riverside Road.
In recent weeks, the city and contractor have completed a “full depth reclamation” process and repaving.
San Juan Highway ‘substantially complete’
The San Juan Highway Repaving Project has “reached substantial completion,” according to San Benito County officials, after paving and reclamation activities were recently finished.
The project began in April with a contract with Granite Construction. The focus of the project is to improve roadway conditions along San Juan Highway and Chittenden Road between State Route 129 and Anzar High School’s southern gate.
The improvements are part of the county’s broader roadway rehabilitation efforts to enhance safety and travel conditions on high-volume roadways, says a press release from the county.
Remaining work to be completed by June 1 includes striping signage installation. Traffic control will be in place during the roadwork, and motorists should expect daytime delays.
