Benefit pasta feed
The Hollister Kiwanis Club and the San Benito High School Key Club will host the 10th annual benefit pasta feed, April 29, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with meals available for pick-up in Baler Alley (behind the school cafeteria. The meal includes pasta with meat sauce (meatless sauce available on request), garlic bread, salad and dessert. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The proceeds benefit the scholarship fund for graduating seniors. Tickets are available at Postal Graphics, in the Nob Hill shopping center, 1760 Airline Hwy., or Bianchi, Kasavan and Pope LLP, 234 Sixth St. Tickets are also available from Kiwanis Club and Key Club members. Volunteer work day
Chamberlain Children’s Center is hosting a service volunteer work day April 30, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at 1850 San Benito St. Join the Mormon Helping Hands, the Rotary Clubs for area 6, San Benito Bounty and Leadership San Benito. Some of the projects for the day include building fences, installing irrigation, landscaping, painting and patching drywall, providing soil and building a compost bin, among other projects. The Autism Parents Club of San Benito County is hosting its fourth annual awards banquet, “Under the Big Top,” April 30, at 5:30 p.m., at Bertuccio’s, 2410 Airline Hwy., in Hollister. Health Fair
The Community Food Bank of San Benito County is hosting a health fair, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be games for kids along with nutritional snacks and drinks and food stamp outreach. Free TDAP vaccinations, required for students 7-12, will be provided for those who bring their immunization record. Free flu vaccinations will be given to children and adults (excluding infants) and free blood pressure and glucose screening will be provided.
Songwriters’ Slugfest
The Rock Guitar Club hosts its annual Songwriters’ Slugfest on April 30, in the SBHS Auditorium, with the grand prize a professional recording session at Tool Shed Studios in Gilroy. Join local talent Easy Company, Volatile Brew, The Splitz, Burned on the Stake, Tragic Comeback, and more for a great evening of rock music. Tickets are $7 at the door.

The Watsonville Bonsai Club will host its 38th annual Bonsai Exhibition May 1, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Watsonville Buddhist Temple, 423, Bridge St., in Watsonville. SBHS Carnival
San Benito High School will host its annual carnival May 6-8, in the football stadium parking lot, with rides and games. Proceeds from tickets purchased in advance support San Benito High School student activities and athletics. They are available for purchase at the student payment center, inside the lobby of the main administration building. Cash-only prices are $20 for a book of 30 tickets or $20 for an all-day wristband. The carnival runs Friday, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

MACE banquet
The Mexican American Committee on Education of San Benito County presents the 41st annual scholarship banquet May 7, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., at San Juan Oaks Country Club. The event features dinner, entertainment, an awards programs and dancing. The guest speaker is David Hayes-Bautista, a professor of medicine and director of the Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture at the University of California, Los Angeles. Entertainment will be provided by Trio Boricano, Sonido Con Sabor and DJ Sergio Flores. Tickets are $50 per person and are only available through presale. Comedy film fest
San Benito Stage Co. presents a Comedy Film Festival, May 7, at 6 p.m., at the Granada Theatre, 336 Fifth St., in Hollister. Tickets are $5 and proceeds will benefit the San Benito Stage Company. The evening will feature three films by student directors, including works by Kevin Thome, Jake Hunter and Jimmy Goudge. Their films are titled “Tiny Moustache,” “Blood, Sweat and Explosions” and “The Space Movie. Tickets are onsale at Postal Graphics or by calling Goudge at 638-0398. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
AROMAS
Annual Aromas Garden Tour
The Aromas Hills Artisans will host its annual Aromas Garden Tour May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event at the Aromas Grange, at the corner of Rose and Bardue avenues for $10 per person. The local 4-H members will be at the Grange to sell plants and boxed lunches. Representatives from the Aromas Water District will answer questions and offer a list of water-wise plants. Guests will be given a booklet with a map to the gardens. The 10 participating properties range from cottage gardens to organic vegetables. Each garden will host various Aromas artisans who will have art on display such as etchings, watercolors, jewelry, stained glass and more.

Oriana Goes Pop!
The Oriana Chorale will be singing a variety of pop songs as part of its spring concert. The Gathering of the PT Clans The Monterey Bay PT Cruisers and the Hollister Downtown Association are hosting the Gathering of the PT Clans – Ten Years of PT Cruising, May 20-22. May 20, stop by the Pizza Factory in San Juan Bautista, after 5 p.m. Cars will be on display at Casa de Fruta, form 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 21. That evening, the Cruisers will cruise through downtown Hollister at 5:30 p.m. There will be a Show n Glow display and live music from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. The Cruisers will leave town May 22 via Fairview Road for a cruise down Hwy. 25.

Dog Days of Hollister
The Hollister Dog Owners Group will host the Dog Days of Hollister, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Dunne Park, in Hollister. Dog Days is a celebration of the dog. They promote responsible dog ownership by highlighting some of the fun ways people can build strong, mutually appreciative relationships with their dogs. CASA pf San Benito County will host its annual fundraiser, the Spring Round-Up, May 21, from 6 p.m. to 1- p.m., at Bolado Park. The event will include a barbecue dinner, dancing and an auction. Bake sale
Leeandra Archdeacon will hold a bake sale May 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in front of the Hollister Safeway store for the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy. The nonprofit organization funds research, awareness and gives support to families affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Archdeacon is raising money to participating with the half-marathon team at the Disneyland half marathon “Run for Our Sons.”

Red Barn Run
The second annual Red Barn Run 5K and 10K will be May 22, at Casa de Fruta. The event benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Registration is $38 for the 5K and $43 for the 10K for runners or walkers who register by May 1. Prices will increase then. The registration includes the run, a souvenir T-shirt, a post-race barbecue lunch with water or a beer (for 21 and older), a best over all grand prize for the male and female top finisher and awards for the top three finishers in each division. Wag ‘n Walk
Pet Friends Rescue will host the Wag ‘n Walk June 11, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Graniterock Southside Sand and Gravel plant, 5362 Airline Hwy., in Hollister. Guests can choose between a 5K run or a 5K walk for dog owners who would like to bring along a dog. Pre-registration is due May 27, with admission $15 per individual or $40 for a family of four.
