The Hollister Youth Alliance handed out its 2011 Community Hero
Awards at an April 1 banquet. The event raises money for many of
the youth-oriented activities support by the HYA.
Some of those in attendance included Doug Emerson, a Hollister
city council member and Robert Rivas, a San Benito county
supervisor.

Some of those in attendance included Doug Emerson, a Hollister city council member and Robert Rivas, a San Benito county supervisor.

Supervisor Margie Barrios and Assemblyman Luis Alejo presented awards while Emerson presented a certificate of recognition to all the honored guests on behalf of the city.

Those honored included Anaid Godoy, who received the Youth Inspiration Award for her incredible story of determination and commitment to giving back. Enrique Luna, the chair of the HYA board, presented Zeke Lopez with a certificate of recognition for his many years of service to youth in the community. Mike Sanchez, the superintendent of schools for San Benito County, presented Richard Vasquez with the 2011 Community Hero Award while Yolanda Leon was also honored for her dedicated work on behalf of youth in San Benito County.
