An enjoyable Easter spent in South County
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday. We’re still
enjoying the holiday here in South County as my kids are all out of
school for spring break this week. Most San Benito Schools were out
last week but King City schools celebrated this week.
The Schmidt Family held their annual Easter Picnic at Tully Hall
last Saturday. More than 50 people were in attendance at the
picnic, a few less then past years. Some of those attending
included: Jeff and Melissa Popnoe and Shari Schmidt, Jeff and Jean
Schmidt, Laurence and Donna Hansen, Craig and Maria Hansen, Diane
and Ted Schmidt, Terry Schmidt, Bob Schmidt and Maggie, Sam Hansen,
Steve Schmidt, Kathy Franscioni Chisum, Susan Kraemer, Randy
Schmidt, Doris Schmit, Albert Bray, Mike Brandi, Wade and Rebecca
Garza, Vern and Jo Ann Scattini, Grace (Scattini) and Volney Marin,
Gregg, Sami Jo, Rory and Jo Ellen Johnsen and Buddy Sans, just to
name a few. Everyone enjoyed the day with an Easter egg hunt for
the little ones and a big pot luck luncheon.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday. We’re still enjoying the holiday here in South County as my kids are all out of school for spring break this week. Most San Benito Schools were out last week but King City schools celebrated this week.

Many Easter celebrations took place throughout South County on Sunday. Tracie and Mike Eggleston hosted a big Easter party on Sunday afternoon. Some attending there included the Eade Family, the Barrington Family, Bill and Robin Rist and Kenny and Valerie Reed, just to name few.

We roped and barbecued at our home all Easter afternoon. Those enjoying a day of roping with us included the Hurley Family, the Johnsen Family, Les Sans and Vern and Jo Ann Scattini.

Dean, Nikki, Dawson and Lila Bell spent their spring break last week in Paradise Valley, Nevada branding calves. Sounds like a good week to me!

John and Susan Nino branded a few calves of their own last week at the Bray Ranch. Some of those helping them out included Hec and Taylor Jo Hurley, Vern Scattini, J.W. Brewen and John Brewen, Doug Forzani, Carson Bourdet and me, Todd and Brody.

Several South County cowboys spent a few days down in Parkfield last week for a bronc riding school at Mike Mosby’s place. Instructors at the school were National Finals Rodeo Qualifiers Hethe and Cody DeMoss. Attending from our area included Cash Robinson, Wyatt Nacarrato, Tommy Ford and Brody Sans. The clinic was pretty advanced for the boys and the broncs were way too rank for them to get on but they sure learned a lot just being there watching and listening. Tommy was the only bareback rider at the clinic so he did get a lot of one on one help and he actually got on quite a few bareback horses. The boys had a great time and so did their dads! It was a great opportunity for the boys and one they hope to get to take advantage of in future years as well.

High School rodeo season is winding down for many districts. District 4 will be holding their district finals rodeo this weekend at the Posse Grounds in Salinas while District 7 will be holding their district finals down in Santa Ynez. This will be the last qualifying rodeo for State Finals for many kids so it should be a very competitive weekend.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
