The Gavilan College baseball team was unable to find the scoreboard until the eighth inning Tuesday, and by that point host Canada College already had a more than comfortable lead.

Connecting on 19 hits, the Redwood City college crushed the Rams 16-1 on Tuesday.

Robert Garcia had two hits and knocked in Gavilan’s one and only run, scoring Gabe Bonilla. Tyler Oertle also had two hits for the Rams, who fall to 2-17 in the Coast Conference, 6-23 overall.

The Gilroy college has lost 14 straight games.

Tyler Provost earned the loss on the hill for Gavilan, allowing seven earned runs on 12 hits over 6.1 innings. Relievers Nick Robles (0.0IP, 2R, 0H), Julian Estrada (.2IP, 6ER, 7H) and Devon Parish (1IP, 0R, 0H) didn’t fare much better, though.

Canada’s Raymond Torres, meanwhile, tossed seven shutout innings against the Rams, allowing just four hits. Allen Stiles went 4 of 6 with three runs scored and two RBI and Dominic Ferrando was 3 of 4 with a run scored to lead Canada.

The Rams are back in action Thursday when they will host Hartnell College in Gilroy. First pitch is 2:30 p.m.
