Every spring, the San Andreas Continuation High School teams up with the City of Hollister’s Public Works Department in getting rid of some local blight. This year, the two partnered on Tuesday morning to clean up a sound wall near Ladd Lane School.

Students from San Andreas Continuation High School were out from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday painting a sound wall at the corner of Sunset Drive and Southside Road. The idea was to clean up the appearance around the Ladd Lane School neighborhood, said city public works official Marcelo Orta.

For San Andreas school – there were more than 20 kids involved this year – the annual effort is part of a community services program run through the school. Some years the students cover graffiti, and other years they give sound walls fresh coats of paint, as they did Tuesday.
