Art Exposed in downtown Hollister
The Charming Chairs and Quilt Exhibit will be combined with the San Benito Open Studios Tour Preview show as Art Exposed at the Blak Sage Gallery, 727 San Benito St. The exhibit will remain at the gallery through April 16. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Chairs will be moved from the gallery to downtown businesses April 5 through the 15. Residents can bid on their favorite chair, with final bidding taking place at the Blak Sage Gallery April 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. All proceeds go to the Downtown Endowment Fund. Wine Auction and Food Fest
The 13th Annual South Valley Wine Auction and Food Fest is April 15, at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, 17000 South Monterey Road, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be live and silent auction items such as rare sports memorabilia, artwork, dining certificates, and more. Multiple shows open at Monterey Museum
The Monterey Museum of Art has several shows on display, including “The Art of California, 1880 to present,” “Adams & Weston and the masters of California Photography, “California Artists and Portraiture,” and more. Healthy Kids Day
The YMCA of San Benito County will host a Healthy Kids Day celebration featuring free, fun and healthy activities for the whole family on April 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Y’s new facilities at 351 Tres Pinos Road, Ste. A-201 in Hollister. Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families and is the largest event of its kind in the nation. Blue Ribbon Fun Walk
The Child Abuse Prevention Council will host the Blue Ribbon Fun Walk, prior to Healthy Kids Day, outside the YMCA office, 351 Tres Pinos Road. Open Studios
The San Benito Arts Council will hold its annual Open Studios Tour, April 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s tour highlights the work of 24 artists in Hollister, San Juan and Aromas, including photographers, painters, sculptors, printmakers, jewelry makers, quilters and stained glass makers. Annual spring cleanup
The Hollister Downtown Association is hosting the annual spring clean-up April 16, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., in downtown Hollister. Volunteers will meet on the grass at Fourth and San Benito streets. Please bring brooms, dustpans, clippers, garden gloves, rakes and shovels to help get downtown clean. Crab crack and dance
The Hollister Exchange Club is hosting a crab crack and dance April 16, at Bolado Park. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m., and dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight, with music by the Dadz. The Aromas Community Grange is hosting a community barbecue and potluck April 16, at 6 p.m. The grange will provide the tri-tip, chicken, bocca burgers, drinks, plates and utensils. The rest of the meal is potluck style. There is a suggested donation of $5 for non-members.

Fleurs plant sale
The South Valley Fleurs Garden Club will host a plant sale April 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Booksmart parking lot, at East Second and Depot streets, in Morgan Hill. The sale will include sought after heirloom tomato plants and perennials. The garden club includes members from Hollister, San Juan Bautista, Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy, with about 65 members. The nonprofit group supports gardens for schools and maintains the Fire Safe Garden at the Union Road fire station.

Fine Arts and crafts festival
A fine arts and quality crafts festival will be held in downtown San Juan Bautista April 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature artisans from California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. There will be a stage featuring musical performances and there will be 15 food vendors. Admission is free.

Padres hikes start up
Reservations are open for the Path of the Padres Hikes at San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area. The hikes are open to the public, ages 6 years and older, by advance reservation only, with a group of 10 needed to conduct the tour. The hike begins at the Los Banos Creek Reservoir boat launch ramp at 8 a.m. and returns at 3:30 p.m. A pontoon boat carries passengers for about 30 to 40 minute to the west end of the reservoir. Along the way, short stops are made so hikers can observe wildlife along the shoreline. The hike is five miles round trip and is moderately strenuous. It takes about five hours. Sturdy footgear is recommended, and hikers should carry a lunch and a minimum of two quarts of water. A reservation fee of $12 is paid for those over $12 or $7 per child, ages 6 to 12. A family of five may reserve space for two adults and three children for $30. Parking is $10 per car. For more information, call 209-826-1197.

Pancake breakfast
The 4-H clubs of San Benito County will hold an annual pancake breakfast, April 17, from 7 a.m. to noon, at the Hollister’s Elks’ Lodge, located at the airport. The breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, juice, potatoes, strawberries, coffee and milk. Tickets are $5 each. St Luke’s hosts Easter services
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 720 Monterey St., will hold a Palm Sunday service at 8 a.m., followed by the blessing of the palms at Dunne Park, on the corner of West and Seventh streets, at 10 a.m. The procession to the Church will be followed by a second service. On April 21, at 8 p.m., the will be a service with a foot washing and stripping of the altar. On April 22, at noon a Good Friday liturgy with silent devotion, stations of the cross, walking the labryrinth and communion will be held. Easter egg hunt
The Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxilary will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt April 23, at 1 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Park. There will be three hunting areas for children ages 2 to 10, broken up by ages 2-4, 5-7 and 8-10. There will also be some special eggs in the hunting areas. Parents are not allowed in the hunt area. The hunt will start right at 1 p.m., so residents are encouraged to arrive early. For children who do not find any eggs, there will be some eggs available at the command post. There will a designated parking area.

San Benito High School will host its annual carnival May 6-8, in the football stadium parking lot, with rides and games. Celebrate Our Wildlife
The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center will host “Celebrate Our Wildlife,” a free event for people who would like to meet some of the animals who are cared for by WERC volunteers. Some of the animals include a turkey vulture, a red-tailed hawk, a peregrine flacon, several types of owls and other birds, as well as two snakes and an opossum. The event is May 15, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Old Machado School, 15130 Sycamore Ave., in Morgan Hill. Donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of food and supplies. Some items that are needed include paper towels, high-quality wild bird seed, store gift cards for grocery, department, pet supply or hardware stores. The Monterey Bay PT Cruisers and the Hollister Downtown Association are hosting the Gathering of the PT Clans – Ten Years of PT Cruising, May 20-22.
