A 43-year Hollister male died in a solo-vehicle accident Friday afternoon after he departed his truck and became lodged between the door and adjacent fence, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was Enrique Gutierrez Padilla, according to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, which acts as county coroner.
Responders arrived to the scene and transported him to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
According to the CHP report, Padilla had been driving a 2001 Ford F-250 on a private driveway at his residence east of Fairview Road shortly before 4:30 p.m. Friday. Padilla exited the truck and, moments later, the vehicle moved forward. The man became lodged between the door and fence along his driveway, according to the CHP.
The CHP reported that conditions were rainy and cold at the time.
