‘The Music Man’

San Benito Stage Company presents Meredith Wilson’s “The Music Man,” July 29-30 at 7 p.m. and July 30 at 2 p.m., at the Granada Theatre, 336 Fifth St., in Hollister. Gilroy Garlic Festival

The Gilroy Garlic Festival is July 29-31, at Christmas Hill Park, in Gilroy. The event is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature a new Gourmet Alley food item, the Alley Wrap with steak and shrimp. Entertainment will include “Top Chef’s” Anthony Sosa, who will conduct a cooking demonstration July 30 and host the Garlic Showdown cooking competition July 31. Musical entertainment includes a wide variety of musicians on three stages, including Kip Moore. Admission is $17 for adults, $8 for seniors ages 60 and up and $8 for children ages 6-12. Children under 6 are free. Parking is free. Tickets offering a $2 discount are available at Raley’s locations throughout Northern California or online at gilroygarlicfestival.com.

Texas Hold’em Tournament

The Hollister City Employee Relay for Life team will host a Texas Hold’em Tournament to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The event is July 30, at the S.D.E.S Portuguese Hall, 695 Seventh St., in Hollister. Doors open at 6 p.m., with games starting at 6:30 p.m. The cost is a $40 donation per person, with $20 for re-buys and $40 for one add on. Prizes will go to the top 10 finishers. Japanese garden lecture

Evenings by the Bay

The Monterey Jazz Festival and the Monterey Bay Aquarium present “Evenings by the Bay,” a summer concert series. The performances are Saturday and Sunday evenings, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Aquarium’s Marine Mammal Gallery, through Sept. 4. Multiple shows open at Monterey Museum

The Monterey Museum of Art has several shows on display, including “The Art of California, 1880 to present,” “Adams & Weston and the masters of California Photography, “California Artists and Portraiture,” and more. The museum has locations at 559 Pacific St. and 720 Via Mirada. Annual antique street fair

More than 200 vendors selling a variety of antiques and collectibles as well as food will be at the Moss Landing Antique Street Fair on July 31. An appraiser will be on site for a portion of the day and there will be a collector workshop and art galleries will be open. National Night Out

he San Benito County Sheriff’s Office will host the “2011 National Night Out Against Crime” Aug. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Target parking lot at 1790 Airline Hwy. The annual event provides information to families about law enforcement and community partnerships that keep kids safe. This year’s event will feature music, live entertainment, face painting, raffle prizes and more. Free hot dogs and sodas will be given out. Kids can visit with McGruff, the Crime Dog.

Guest speaker visits Hillside

uest speaker Jack Willis will visit Hillside Christian Fellowship, 281 San Felipe Road, Aug. 2 and 3, at 7 p.m. Aug. 2 is youth night. Willis will share the Bible in a powerful, relevant and humorous way. His personal experiences and insight have a way of making the Bible come alive. High School alumni fundraiser

The San Benito High School class of 1971 will host its fourth annual scholarship fundraiser Aug. 7, from noon to 4 p.m., at the Betabel Station Event Center, 9644 Betabel Road, in San Juan. The barbecue and silent auction costs $25 a person. The public is invited to attend. The scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors who plan to further their education at a college, university, technical school or vocational school. This year’s recipients included Sergio Alcala and Ruth Gutierrez-Nunez, who will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Breastfeeding Walk

The San Benito Health Foundation will host its annual Breastfeeding Walk Aug. 10 during National Health Center Week. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. and will last about 30 minutes. Soul Kiss to perform at winery

Local band Soul Kiss will perform Aug. 12 and Sept. 23 at Sarah’s Vineyard, 4005 Hecker Pass Hwy. in Gilroy. The free concert will be held on the lawn of the vineyard, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Music begins at 7, with last call at 9:30 p.m. Food from local caterers will be available for purchase or guests can bring a picnic meal. PJ Galvan Memorial Golf Tournament

The PJ Galvan Memorial Golf Tournament is Aug. 20, at Ridgemark Golf and Country Club, with check-in and registration at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The fee is $100 per player and includes green fees, a cart and a Mexican lunch buffet. Garden Layout Tour

The San Benito County Historical Society will host a barbecue supper and dance Aug. 20 to raise money to rebuild the dance hall. The event will include a barbecue dinner, a cash bar, music from the Buffalo Canyon Band, and prizes. Tickets are $49 per person, or $90 for a couple. Tables of 10 can be purchased for $500. Aromas Day

Aromas Day is Aug. 28 and will start with a country breakfast and silent auction, from 7 to 11 a.m., at the Aromas Grange, at the corner of Rose and Bardue streets. A parade will be held at 2 p.m. and there will be Art in the Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., presented by the Aromas Hills Artisans. An all-day street fair will include live music, classic cars, antique tractors, a climbing wall, a petting zoo and pony rides, a dunk tank and more.
