School swings into motion in South County

Summer has unofficially come to a close for most South County kids as the majority of schools are now back in session. Bitterwater Tully School, Jefferson School and San Benito High School all started their school years this week while several King City Schools began a few weeks ago.

Brody started his freshman year this week at San Benito and it has been quite a change for him. He went from a 28-student school for seven years, followed by a year of home schooling last year to San Benito High School this year. What a culture shock it was for him seeing how many students actually attend. It’s quite an adjustment but so far so good! Sierra left home this week as well as she moved in to her first apartment over in Monterey on Monday. She will be attending Monterey Peninsula College which begins next week. There has been lots of adjustments in our household the past week! She has a wonderful roommate that she met through her basketball coach and they found a great little apartment one block from the beach. She is adjusting nicely away from home, too, but we definitely miss each other!

Andy, Tamra and Wacey Barrington just returned home from an almost two-week long vacation to Wyoming. Tamra has family there so they spent much of their vacation visiting with them. They also spent a lot of time fishing and traveling around to Forts and museums. They had a great time.

Birthday wishes go out to Jo Ann Scattini who celebrated her birthday on the Aug. 18. She celebrated with friends Billy and Karen Whitney and Johnny Joe and Darlene Maggini on Wednesday evening.

There was a fire over on the Anthony Ranch near Greenfield on Tuesday afternoon. The blaze burned several hundred acres and you could see the flames from our house on Tuesday night. I haven’t heard yet if they’ve gotten the fire contained or not. It’s definitely fire season so be careful.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Hollister PBR that will be taking place at Bolado Park on Sept. 3. There will be a golf tournament held on Sept. 2 at Ridgemark with lots of the proceeds going to local charities. Event organizer Laura Naccarato is also coorrdinating a golf club donation drive as well that will benefit kids who would like to golf but don’t have the means to purchase clubs. If you have any clubs you no longer use and would like to donate to a great organization, contact Laura and she’d be glad to take them off your hands.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at
