Tiger adds to Open intrigue

The news is spreading like fire that Tiger Woods will be
competing in the Frys.com Open on Oct. 3 to Oct. 9 at CordeValle in
San Martin. Tiger has always voiced a dislike for the Monterey
Peninsula greens as the reason not to compete in the AT
&
amp;T Pro-am at Pebble Beach but this is a great opportunity to
watch him locally – in person – rather than on television.

The news is spreading like fire that Tiger Woods will be competing in the Frys.com Open on Oct. 3 to Oct. 9 at CordeValle in San Martin. Tiger has always voiced a dislike for the Monterey Peninsula greens as the reason not to compete in the AT&T Pro-am at Pebble Beach but this is a great opportunity to watch him locally – in person – rather than on television.

Hopefully, Rocco Mediate and Tiger will be paired up again as Rocco defends his Frys.com Open title and Tiger tries to regain his game before the Presidents Cup matches.

There is a limit of 15,000 spectators each for the Frys.com Open, per Santa Clara County regulations, so purchase tickets as soon as possible. Tickets are available in the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club pro shop or online at frysopengolf.com.

Please remember to check the Ridgemark Junior Club box because our junior program will receive 20 percent of all ticket sales in our pro shop and online.

No bull

Ridgemark Golf and Country Club is hosting the Professional Bull Riders golf tournament Friday. Come out this afternoon and evening to enjoy some live music, to try and ride the mechanical bull, or to check out the vendor tents.

Some of our local vendors will be selling food, desserts, wines, and others will be fundraising for softball teams and school improvements. We will also have live radio by 92.7 K-TOM.

So come out and have a great time – with no live bulls. The live bulls will be at Bolado Park on Saturday.

Teeing Off From Elevated Tees

One of the thrills in golf is the tee shot from an elevated tee.

We love to watch our drives float forever and gain the added distance but the difficulty of elevated tee shots is greater because of the loss of tree lines or other landmarks and our shot direction.

I recommend using same tip we use on the putting green to help with direction of our putts. Just as we line the name on the golf ball toward the hole on the green, line up the name on your ball toward the center of the fairway as you tee up your ball.

Focus on swinging the clubhead straight through the name on the ball to help drive the tee shot down the center of the fairway. Let the name on the golf ball be the guide to straighter elevated tee shots. If you find this works for you, feel free to use this tip for all drives.
