Burning restrictions on public lands to be lifted with onset of
autumn
The Bureau of Land Management will lift fire restrictions on
public lands within the Hollister Field Office jurisdiction
effective Oct. 15, according to the BLM.
Visitors will be able to have open campfires and barbecue fires
at campsites on BLM public lands with a valid California campfire
permit, which are valid for one calendar year, meaning they had to
have been issued in 2011.

The Bureau of Land Management will lift fire restrictions on public lands within the Hollister Field Office jurisdiction effective Oct. 15, according to the BLM.
Visitors will be able to have open campfires and barbecue fires at campsites on BLM public lands with a valid California campfire permit, which are valid for one calendar year, meaning they had to have been issued in 2011.
The BLM still cautioned that despite cooler temperatures, some of the grass and brush is still dry in areas.
According to the announcement: Visitors are required to provide proper clearance of flammable vegetation and be certain that fire is completely extinguished after use. In addition, visitors are required to have a shovel and water on hand to completely extinguish the campfire before leaving. Additionally, all open routes in the Tumey, Griswold, and Panoche hills, which are gated, locked and closed to public access during the upland game season from April to October, are now open to public access. These roads are closed to protect wildlife habitat values, rare, threatened, and endangered species, and paleontological resources. Foot access is allowed in these areas year-long.
