Antonio Cano Escobar is the suspect and recently finished a prison term for a separate Los Banos home invasion. On Oct. 3, Escobar was released from prison and brought to San Benito County to face charges in the Hollister case, according to a statement from the Hollister Police Department.

The recommended charges include one count of robbery, two counts of dissuading a victim from testifying, and one count of kidnapping. He remains in the San Benito County Jail with bail at $600,000.

The charges are connected to the June 15, 2006 incident in the 100 block of McCray Street. Residents reported that two suspects entered their home, one armed with a semi-automatic handgun and the second with a knife. The residents alleged the suspects held them inside the home while they stole jewelry and other personal items before fleeing the scene.

The next day, the Reno Police Department stopped a vehicle with a large amount of jewelry and the man, Escobar, was linked to a home invasion robbery in Los Banos.

Hollister police conducted a follow-up investigation, identified him and obtained an arrest warrant.
