Rape suspect

The Hollister man accused of using social networking websites to lure two separate rape victims had a court appearance this week and has his next date scheduled for Nov. 29, according to court records.

Mathew Jacobs, 21, was arrested by Hollister police in July and then again in September for the separate, suspected allegations.

The victim related to the September arrest reported she was sexually assaulted at a residence in Hollister. Police alleged that Jacobs met the victim on July 8 and is suspected of sexually assaulting her, according to police.

Police previously arrested Jacobs on July 22 in Hollister for a suspected rape the prior day. investigators believe Jacobs had used social media to get in contact with his victim in both reported incidents.

Jacobs had his Tuesday appearance continued to 2 p.m. Nov. 29 in courtroom 101 before Judge Steven Sanders, before a scheduled Dec. 19 preliminary examination where a judge can decide whether there is enough evidence for a trial.
